Spotted these pics of Luis and the Wildfires on tour with the Reverend Horton Heat in the US a few days ago. Luis wearing a Carlos and the Bandidos shirt I made a zillion years ago and a beer cozy sporting the new logo I made for them recently. For the type-fetishists (like myself), dig the hand spraycan lettering on Ricky's bassdrum.

HI-STYLE RECORDS

If you know me, you know I've always been passionate about that "certain" music with that "certain" sound from 50 to 60 years ago. Today there are only a few studio's who manage to bring this magic sound back. One of them is our good buddy Jimmy Sutton from Chicago, il. He runs his own studio and label from his own home called HI-STYLE RECORDS and does an amazing job recording and producing. Belgian Moonshine Reunion recorded in his studio a few months ago and will be out in a few weeks. (see previous post)
... but nobody else can promote this better than Jimmy himself

Congratz to Dirk Wolf for winning the Lex Van Rossen Award for best European Music Photography for TRIGGERFINGER.
A word from the jury: “depict outstandingly the atmosphere of the city and the trip. The photos look just as sunny and sultry like Los Angeles itself. They show the ultimate dream of any band from Belgium or Holland: for recording your album off to sunny LA. Wolf doesn’t show the members of the band as tough rockers but like men on a holiday, in the sun, enjoying the weather and the environment they were in. You’d expect blood sweat and tears in a report like this but that’s not what you see. In that sense these are surprising photographs. As a report it works very well too: the band arrives, hangs around and leaves again. The circle is closed”.

Just finished this DVD before the Christmas holidays. A Tribute to the one and only Janis Martin filmed live at the Rockabilly Rave a few years ago. Also included is the live tribute show from 2010 with the best female singers the Rockabilly scene has to offer. A must have for all Janis fans!
